Hey Outsiders! Apologies for the last minute posting. Please join me if you’re still itching to hike this weekend! The weather looks hopeful and June 1st is National Trails Day. Come join me for a short but powerful hike with pano views and a fun stop at Storm King Arts Center. As always, we will hike together at a moderate pace, with plenty of time for photos, rest, and nourishment. No one left behind. *Please note: I have not done this trail before but I will come prepared with directions. We can learn together. It will be an adventure!)* Trail info: - Distance: <3 miles - Elevation Gain: 900 ft - Type: Loop hike - Level: Intermediate (involve some steep sections and some scrambling at the beginning) - Duration: 3 hours trail time plus ~2 hours at Storm King Arts - Trail Highlights: Short but scenic, with a scramble and some fun incline up to a panoramic view north and south. Feel free to check this out for more information: https://hikethehudsonvalley.com/hikes/storm-king/ HOW TO GET TO THE HIKE: The easiest way to reach this trail is by driving. The pull off parking lot for this trailhead is on the northbound side of highway 9W, south of Newburgh. I’ve included GPS coordinates (41.42312, -74.00101) to make it easy to locate. Agenda: - Meet in pull off parking lot of Storm King State Park - Hike up Storm King Mt and take in the views at the top before returning to our cars. - since this hike is shorter, let’s visit to Storm King Arts Center after ($18/pp) - optional food and drink (I always love a beer and a burger after a hike!) Bring: - Ample water (I suggest 2 liters, that’s four 16 oz bottles) - Lunch/snacks - Camera - Sunscreen - Insect repellant - Charged phone - cash or card if you’d like to visit the Arts Center ($18) Wear: - Comfortable athletic clothing (non-cotton if possible) - Hiking boots (recommended) - Backpack -- A few things: *Please be on time! If you're late, we'll be sad, but we will start without you. * Rain = cancelled hike. I'll communicate via email, event comments, & DMs. * Every person to go on a hike will have to sign a waiver agreeing that myself & anyone cannot be held liable for any potential & unforeseen injuries. *If you are catching a ride with someone, please pitch in for gas/tolls/coffee for the driver!
