Hello all. Its been a long time since I scheduled an event with the group. I would like to invite everyone who has their own boat to join me on one of Ohio's best kept secrets. Deer Creek. Its approximately an hour south of C'Bus and well worth the drive. You must own a boat to participate. No rentals are available. Plan to be on the water for about 4 to 5 hours depending on how many stops we make. You can expect to see leatherback turtles, great blues, eagles, wood ducks, red tail hawks, ospreys, beaver and of course deer. Possibly a merganser or two, canvasbacks, owls, broad shoulder hawks, otters and warblers. Bring sunscreen, insect repellant, a sack lunch, plenty of fluids and your camera. Binoculars are a must if you like viewing warblers. The section we plan to paddle is class l & ll's so even if you are a beginner, you should be fine. If you like to fish, white bass are plentiful in the creek right now. The current water temps are running around the mid 50's so a dry bag with a complete change of clothes might be something to consider bringing depending on your tollerance level. Plan to meet at the put in where we will drop our boats off and shuttle our vehicles down to the take out. The put in only has a few places to park so bear with us as we unload our boats. The meeting location is on Robison Rd. See directions below. Take I-71 south from C'bus to State Route 56. Turn right (west) on SR 56 and travel about 2 miles to Robison Rd. Turn onto Robison Rd (you can only go right) and as you head down the road it will curve to the left. A short distance down you will see a small gravel parking area on your left. I should be there waiting for everyone.
