About

This is a great time to check out the Prophecy Rock Petroglyph panel in the Ojito Wilderness. These are pristine petroglyphs on top of a large rock outcrop called the Prophecy Rock because of the stories the glyphs tell. If that wasn't enough, there is a small cave underneath and this is the exact site of the dinosaur excavation in the late 80's. We'll take an off trail exploration of the petroglyphs. There's lots of cool rock, petrified wood, rock worms, and that wildly colored soil. Once we get back to the trailhead, it's off to the White Hoodoos. This area is opposite the main hoodoo trail. Instead of going right, we go left to the Half Cave and Flying Hoodoo (you'll see :) Once on the escarpment, we'll have a chance to go to the very top of the mesa if we choose. There's so many cool areas to explore. Our last area is a very local white hoodoo area that is one of my favorites. These are extremely fragile to please do not disturb them. This hike will have about 500 feet of vertical and about 4 to 5 miles of off trial hiking.
