About

I have four permits to climb Mount Whitney on Sunday May 5th. Who is interested. Ice Axe, Crampons and Helmet required. Must have significant mountaineering experience. About me: Though I am new to this particular group I have been mountaineering for a long. I have been up Mount Rainier multiple times and an OSAT GCC graduate. I have also climbed Mount Hood in March and have many very active in the past three months in hiking and mountaineering. I know Greg from an earlier trip up to Camp Muir and I got the blessings from him to put up this trip because I am looking for 4 people to join me on this trip. Mt Whitney webcam - www.whitneyzone.com/wc_notes.htm On this trip we will go up the Mountaineers Route (MR). This can be used year round and is the steep, direct alternative about 5.5 miles one way. It shares the trailhead and initial 0.8 miles but split off the North fork of Lone Pine creek on to a use trail. Mostly class 1 till Iceberg Lake but the chute further up to the notch is a snow climb well into the summer. The final 400+ ft is class 3 (not exposed). Crampons/Ice-axe use for chute (rocks on sides may be covered in snow) ---
