About

We are planning on hike of at least 6 and no more than 9 miles. Our pace will be moderate, of between 2.5 to 2.75 miles per hour. Paths are predominately gravel and well drained. There are moderate hills. If you would like a good work out in preparation for your Camino this year, and you feel you are in shape to do so, wear your pack. I always use walking sticks and I always suggest using or at least trying them. I believe they provide an added element of exercise. If you are not an experienced hiker and used to hiking 6 to 8 miles this hike may not be in your best interest and I do not recommend joining us on this hike. Bring water and a snack/lunch. Plan on taking two or three breaks. This park is a hidden gem. A friend introduced me to Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve last week. I was REALLY impressed with it's natural beauty. It's out-of-way location results in a feeling you have the park to yourself. Well worth the visit! Check this event for updates as the park entry point may be adjusted as the date approaches. If there is a need to cancel due to weather, I will post the notice no later than 7 AM of event day. For a map of the park and the park website go to: https://www.threeriversparks.org/location/murphy-hanrehan-park-reserve Printed maps are available at the park entrance. As of this posting I am planning to depart for the Camino in June to serve along the France' route or Primitivo route. Haven't decided which one yet. If you are thinking about going on Camino, I'd love to talk about it and answer questions the best I can. The title of this event was prompted by a good friend who asked me "How does a Christian prepare spiritually for their Camino experience". We had lunch and came up with some ideas. I would be glad to share and/or discuss them with anyone who is interested.
