6:00: Spokane Women on the Fly presents Basic Knots - This is a great opportunity to become proficient on the basic knots: clinch, double surgeon, loop and perfection loop. 7:00: Rich Lander's presentation- The comeback of cutthroat trout in the Yellowstone region, as verified by fly rod during a wilderness horse-packing and pack-rafting trip, will be covered in a program on May 7 by Rich Landers, former outdoors editor for The Spokesman-Review. The evening sponsored by the Spokane Falls Chapter of Trout Unlimited starts at 6 p.m. with Spokane Women on the Fly leading fishing knot-tying practice at Hugo's, 3023 E 28th Ave. Landers' program will start at 7. The presentation will include a 15-minute film, "The Return," focusing on Trout Unlimited's efforts in restoring the fishery and ecosystem devastated by the illegal introduction of nonnative lake trout into the Yellowstone Lake system. Landers will follow with a slide program on his 2018 expedition into the grizzly-infested Thorofare region upstream from Yellowstone Lake, where he and two companions confirmed the news that the once-outstanding cutthroat fishery is recovering.
