Whether you are building an application, analyzing and processing data, or designing a technical solution, chances are you'll end up needing to generate, store and access some data. In simple terms, you'll need some sort of database. But if you haven't been keeping an eye on the realm of databases lately, you will be surprised at how much the landscape has changed. You no longer have to struggle with the overhead of making relational databases work for every use case and solution. Nowadays, there are many new types of databases that cater to the different types of solutions and ways applications store and interact with data. Purpose built databases. Examples include SQL, NoSQL, graph, time series, document... etc. In this session we'll explore 9 DIFFERENT types of databases, when to use each one, and get an idea of the AWS services that offer those types of databases. We'll complement the session with a hands-on exercise that involves building and using a robust NoSQL database on AWS. All you need to do is to bring your laptop and sign-up for an AWS account beforehand (if you don't have one already). That's it! Don't worry about the cost of the exercise though, we will be giving out AWS credits so you are encouraged to explore and learn further!! [AGENDA] 17:00 - 18:30 A Journey through 9 types of databases 18:30 - 18:45 Prayer break 18:45 - 19:30 Hands-On: Create & Manage a Nonrelational Database with DynamoDB 19:30 - 20:00 (Human) Networking & Dinner Looking forward to seeing you there!
