About

Join us to kick off the Ft Collins summer live music season as the Fort Collins Blues Society is hosting two local blues bands and a membership drive at The Whisk(e)y in Old Town. Music begins at 8:00 with The Grace Kuch Band followed by The Dave Dardine Project. $5.00 cover Doors open at 7:00 Ft Collins Blues Society membership is not required to attend. Dress is casual, Come to dance or simply listen. 21+ The Dave Dardine Project (San Francisco inspired Blues)- Formed by guitarist Dave Dardine in 2005 as a House Jam band has gone through several rebirths. The current lineup features Tim Obert on drums and vocals, Ken Duran on guitar and vocals, and Mark Williams on bass. "So, are you wondering just what San Francisco inspired blues are? It might be easier to say what it's not. It's not the standard blues numbers every other blues band in the area covers. It's not rock n' roll wearing a blues hat. We dig down past the surface of popular blues to find the core rawness and grit of the blues, and infuse that with the sounds coming out of Frisco in the '60's. Our passion is the music - we're not flashy, we're not pretty, we're not slick. Hell, we're not even always politically correct. But we play the blues like we feel it, and we've been doing this for a long time." Grace Kuch- Whether fronting a band or sitting in with musical heavyweights, Grace Kuch conveys a rare ease and instinct on blues guitar. Just 15, she’s already distinguished herself nationally playing renowned venues across the U.S., including the Memphis International Blues Challenge, Greeley Blues Jam, King Biscuit Blues Festival, Big Blues Bender, and more. True to her name, she moves gracefully within traditional blues compositions on both acoustic and electric guitar, while her distinctive solos convey the keen clarity of a gifted young artist on the rise—and eager for more. Grace was named Best Young Performer in both the 2017 & 2018 Colorado Blues Society Members’ Choice Awards. She was also selected by her peers in the Fort Collins Musician's Association for the Best Youth Performer in 2018. She won a full scholarship to the hallowed Pinetop Perkins Foundation Workshop, as well as a John-Alex Mason Memorial Scholarship and Generation Blues Scholarships from the National Blues Foundation. In 2016, Smithsonian Magazine profiled Grace in its article “Keeping Blues Alive,” about the 32nd annual International Blues Challenge. In 2015, she was listed in American Blues Scene Magazine's 10-best list "10 Musicians Under 18 You Should Know". The Whisk(e)y located in the heart of Old Town, is well known for their 1800+ whiskey varieties. We will meet in the back "speakeasy" venue. Arrive early for a meal from their pub menu and a local draft brew. Notes: I've communicated with the bands and they are working on dance-able playlist sets. We will attempt to hold tables near the south wall. If this is your first meetup please introduce yourself.
