You may know that I am a practitioner of Classic Asian Medicine specializing in Shiatsu. Part of my training was in the Five Element Theory, which is a useful tool in bringing greater awareness of our relationships with ourselves, each other and the natural world. In Chinese Medicine, the five elements are Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood, and each of the elements has correspondences with the seasons, foods, emotional states, diseases, senses, etc. Each of us embodies all of the elements, but typically one predominates resulting in what is known as a "constitutional type". If you are interested in discovering your primary constitutional type and how you can relate that to your life, join us in the next meditation that will focus on the Wood Element. In a nutshell, the Wood Element corresponds with springtime, the color green, the taste of sour, flexibility (think a strong-rooted tree swaying in the wind), and the liver and gallbladder organs. Before the meditation I will briefly explain the aspects of the Wood Element, and then we'll settle in and let all that wonderful information percolate down into us during the meditation. I hope you will join us! I will focus on one element each season (four seasons, five elements - the Earth Element corresponds to the time between summer and fall), so stay tuned for upcoming dates! NOT TO WORRY! Other meditations will be held between the seasonal Five Element meditation events.
