About

DETAILS: This is a blind tasting of wines that attendees bring, taste, and rate. To enter a bottle in this competition it must be at least 80% Merlot. It can be from any region. It must have a retail price over $30 to be entered. Meat and cheeses will be provided. Attendance will be limited to 25. If the slots are full, get put on the waitlist and prepare to attend because people drop out last minute. COST: If you enter a bottle, the cost is $5. If you just want to taste, the cost is $20. We will put the fees in a pot and whoever brings the best rated bottle will take home the pot (Minus $50 food expense). TIME: Doors open at 7:00 PM. Wines for the competition must be entered by our start time of 7:30 PM. Appreciating wine is like any skill, practice makes perfect. This type of tasting gives you a chance to blind taste at least 10 bottles of wine that cost at least $30. Having them all from a limited theme (such as Merlot) is a very cost-effective way to gain experience and knowledge. Do you want to learn more about Merlot? This is your chance! Remember, even Miles in the movie Sideways ended up drinking and loving Merlot in the end. Think you know Merlot or have a favorite you would like to throw in the mix? Bring a bottle and find out. You may learn something about your own tastes or you could go home with winnings of over $200. Please remember to pass on wearing cologne or perfume for these events to allow our noses to pick up subtleties in the wines. If you RSVP’d and later discover you are not going to be able to attend, please update your RSVP as soon as possible to give others a chance to attend. Please drink responsibly and plan a safe ride home.
