Want to experience what a half day thru hiking is like? Have you hiked more than 10 miles in a day? Now you can put your endurance and equipment to the test. Sunrise is at 6:45am so we’re going to see some nice morning colors. Cedar Ridge Preserve is a hiker’s hidden gem in the DFW area if you haven’t been to it yet. Well tended trails and some good up and down portions make it ideal for training up for mountains and longer hikes. Meetup time is early AM to beat some of the TX heat. You don’t have to do the full 12 miles if you don’t want to, so stop on by to get whatever mileage you want in. Cedar ridge is about 4 miles for one loop, so you can stay to do 4, 8, or 12 miles. What to bring: Daypack / Backpack Good walking / hiking shoes Hat / Sunscreen / Sunglasses Snacks Water If you want to train for backpacking, just bring your fully loaded pack and trail gear. This will be a great opportunity to break in any new backpacking / hiking gear — trekking poles, footwear, socks, gaiters, etc.
