About

Join me at EGGS Hike Weekend at Burr Oak! This is the 10-year anniversary for this incredibly exciting event benefiting the Buckeye Trail Association. The entire weekend is fun with camping (included in registration), camaraderie, food, and of course seeing what your legs are made of on Burr Oak and Wildcat Hollow's hiking trails. The hikes are supported and a great opportunity to try something like this on fairly easy terrain with lots of fellow hikers. WHO: The Buckeye Trail Association in cooperation with the North Country Trail Association, American Discovery Trail Society, Wayne National Forest, Little Cities of the Forest Collaborative, Sunday Creek Watershed Group, and Burr Oak State Park WHAT: 5 hiking challenges consisting of 20 (day and night), 40, 60, and 80 miles that need to be completed in 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours respectively WHEN: Thursday, June 20th at 12:00pm to Sunday, June 23th at 12:00pm WHERE: Burr Oak State Park and Wildcat Hollow Backpack Trail WHY: To honor a founding member of the BTA and the first female to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail, Emma “Grandma” Gatewood, an Ohio native and long time advocate of ultra-light backpacking VOLUNTEER: We will be looking for volunteers to man trail checkpoints, assist with registration, and help with camping activities for any hikers bringing their family and little hikers to the event. Volunteers receive free meals from the BTA Chuckwagon and a free t-shirt. For complete info and to register, click here: https://www.buckeyetrail.org/eggs.php (RSVP-ing to this Meetup event DOES NOT REGISTER YOU for the EGGS hike! You must go to their website!)
