Miss the fun of non-pixelated indoor gaming? Always one person short to play your favorite game? Join an inspiring collection of strategic masterminds and exotic game purveyors for a day of community and gamesmanship. No poor sports permitted. Show up anytime Sunday at Press Start to Play (near the CDA movie theater in Riverstone) between 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to participate. You may bring your own game(s) and hope to get people to join you or you may join in on one of the many gaming opportunities available. Use the discussion to coordinate meet-up times or just show up when convenient. Games likely to make an appearance this Sunday based on this past week’s event: Monster Lands (up to 5 players): Chess with dice. The layered game needs solid instruction, but once you learn the mechanics it provides thrilling gameplay. First, you use dice as a sort of currency/roadblock, either purchasing goods to make your monster-killing mercenaries stronger or setting the stage to gain glory by defeating beasts or rescuing kingdoms. If you have a hankering to play this Kickstarter sensation, you could do yourself a video and watch this video preview beforehand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrp91JClNbU&t=793s The Mind (2-4 players): Simple game playable from ages 8 and up. Don’t think this game just entertains kids though. A great social game that takes seconds to learn (I’m so confident in that statement, I don’t feel compelled to provide a link explaining the rules). Like exciting games that test your ability to read minds? This crowd pleaser may become your new favorite small group party game. Clank! In Space! (2-4 players): Deck building game coupled with a board and great card flavor text. You need to sneak aboard an evil star captain’s ship and steal some of his loot and escape before he terminates your life. Seven Wonders (2-8 players): Draft-style game in which every player simultaneously choose the card they wish to purchase. Wish you saw a different title (The Settlers of Catan, Betrayal at the House on the Hill, Ascension, Flux, Dominion, etc.)? Make suggestions in the discussion below. Let the games begin!
