EASTER SUNDAY AFTERNOON BIKE FUN BEAUTIFUL - OCEAN TRAILS - DUNES to THE WEDGE - PICNIC - BIKE RENTALS AVAILABLE THE START 4/21 An Easter Sunday Afternoon bike ride at 3:30PM. Cross-posted on a few Meet Ups. Average attendance is about 30+/- people. A glorious Fun Ocean Bike Ride Afternoon and crowd favorite. Meet new people, exercise, discover more about where we live, outdoor fun and lunch. We start and finish at the Galley Café and use the Balboa Ferry one-way on return. Please read all of this posting All-inclusive and great for first timers, shy people and expert riders. This is casual biking with great exercise and a basic fitness level makes it so much more fun. We will be on the ocean, exercising, sightseeing and making new friends. Enjoy the beauty of where we live. Pack a snack or be prepared to buy take-out from a variety of places for a snack picnic in Channel Park. BIKE RENTALS Available (see end of this post for rental info and WHERE TO PARK for rentals) THE RIDE NOT a ‘pack ride’ on PCH but keeping to trails and side streets. A couple of short hills that are a positive challenge for single speed bikes. Plan for 3 hours and 15+/- miles. Leave from the Galley Café to Bayside Drive to The Dunes - Castaway Park – Cliff Drive along the Newport ridgeline – dropping down into the village for sightseeing and ocean views all the way to The Wedge. We come back on the ferry ($1.25) This ocean bike tour mixes sightseeing and exercise on ocean trails and side roads. On this ride you will see Pirates, Cowboys & Indians, you will ride all the way across the USA, and go places you’ve never been. Really! Have fun, meet like-minded people, be safe and enjoy the splendor of where we live. We have scheduled stops along the way to ‘Group Up’, rest, hydrate and be present. The group has a Sweeper at the end of the pack. LEAVING FROM Galley Cafe 829 Harbor Island Drive Newport Beach, CA 92660 PICNIC As we drop down into the village, we will pause for lunch at Channel Park on the water. Pack your lunch and/or there are several places to buy lunch. Carl’s Jr, a bakery, sandwich shop, pizza, Flame Broiler and a coffee shop with a few more. We break for lunch and complete the ride. There is no need for a bike lock. RELEASE OF LIABILITY Biking and running activities and all outdoor sports outings are rewarding and pleasant activities, but there are certain dangers you should be aware of. Those include, but are not limited to, impact or fall injuries, broken or dislocated bones. By signing up for this bike trip, you assume the risks of the outing and agree to release the organization, the trip organizer and other participants from claims for any and all injuries or other losses sustained during this trip. The bridge to Balboa Island is directly across from the shopping center. Walk across the bridge onto Balboa Island on the right-hand sidewalk to first building on the right. Come early to rent a bike and peddle up Bayside Drive to the Galley Café to be ready for 3:30 start.
