Are you busy this Tuesday afternoon? Come on out to the village of Shawnee to be a part of SE Ohio's next great hiking destination. Shawnee is the newest "Trail Town" along the BT and a project is underway to connect the town to the trail. This includes trail improvements, a 2.4 mile loop hiking trail in the surrounding forest, and a 1/2 mile cinder loop trail around nearby Tecumseh Lake. Located in the heart of the Wayne National forest Shawnee is surround by some of our state's most wild lands, making it an ideal hiking and outdoor recreation location.
Upon completion the 2.4 mile loop trail will also host an interpreted guided hike, a defined 5K route, and highlight some of the fantastic places to bird-watch along the trail. To get this project completed we will be hosting weekly 3 hour trail builds every Tuesday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm until the project is complete. Come and leave your mark on this exiting new chapter in Shawnee and Buckeye Trail History!
Tools and training will be provided each week. Please bring hiking boots, gloves and water! We will work rain or shine.
