GOOGLE MAP LOCATION https://goo.gl/maps/2MTkVAVMXsQ2 Our host for July is Thai-American photographer/model/literary geek, Sean McGovern, his theme is 'In the Mood for Rain'. IN THE MOOD FOR RAIN Every time it rains in Bangkok, I think about Wong Kar-Wai’s In the Mood for Love -- maybe because most of it was actually shot in Bangkok, despite being set in Hong Kong. This month, we’re taking a look at four movies from Wong Kar-Wai, each of which has a good, atmospheric rain scene in its own right. Love, betrayal, affairs, family matters, heartbreak and chance encounters: in these films, everything happens in the rain. —Sean McGovern JULY SCHEDULE Wed, 3 July 2019 Chungking Express (Wong Kar-wai, 1994) Wed, 10 July 2019 In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar-wai, 2000) Wed, 17 July 2019 < Jam Closed for Buddhist Lent > Wed, 24 July 2019 Fallen Angels (Wong Kar-wai,1995) Wed, 31 July 2019 Happy Together (Wong Kar-wai, 1997) The screening will start at 8:30 pm. // Free Entry // CHUNGKING EXPRESS Wong Kar-Wai's movie about two love-struck cops is filmed in impressionistic splashes of motion and color. The first half deals with Cop 223, who has broken up with his girlfriend of five years. He purchases a tin of pineapples with an expiration date of May 1 each day for a month. By the end of that time, he feels that he will either be rejoined with his love or that it too will have expired forever. The second half shows Cop 663 dealing with his breakup with his flight attendant girlfriend. He talks to his apartment furnishings until he meets a new girl at a local lunch counter.
