Pilates & Yoga is a 30 minute blended class of these two popular types of mind-body connected exercise. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the late 1800’s, the focus is to connect the mind with purposeful exercise. The method is a unique combination of stretching and strengthening while adding the integral mind-body connection, requiring the individual to pay close attention to the movement performed and the details that make the movement work. YOGA focuses on channeling inward to discover body awareness and provides an all-around calming mechinism to ease tightness or stiffness of the body. You will become familiar with mind-body connection as we work our way through holding traditional yoga poses as well as actively stretching within your own ability. Connecting our mind and body through motion and rhythmic breathing, yoga often encourages range of motion to the body’s comfort.
