See partially submerged lumber kiln and foundation of the town built in 1881 by Francis Beidler. With low water levels, we’ll be able to get out, explore the island, then head to another nearby island on Lake Marion. Bald Eagles, Osprey, wading birds, cypress trees, flowers often seen here.
Bring $3.00 per car for parking. Meet at Taylor's Landing and Campground. If renting kayak/gear, arrive 15-20 minutes before 9 am to sign waiver forms, etc. If bringing your own kayak/gear, arrive early enough to unload and ready to launch by 9 am.
Water, snack, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, shoes that can get wet.
Please note trip duration varies depending on water/weather conditions and group. Return time is estimated.
$10/person for those bringing your own kayak/gear (BYOE). Whistle and PFD required (SCDNR). Boat 12' and longer are highly recommended.
$30/person to rent kayak/gear- includes kayak, paddle, PFD, whistle and we bring to landing. Call 843-697-2812 by Thursday, 6/6/19 before 6 pm to rent. Rentals are paid in advance. BYOE can bring cash day of the paddle or call to pre-pay.
