My favorite hike inside the Perimeter! Overall, it is a really easy hike along the east bank of the Chattahoochie, just south of the Sope Creek trail system that includes some great forested pathways, a trail along the Chattahoochie, and a Bamboo Forest! Two new trails have recently been added, giving this hike additional character. Distance/Skill Level: This is an easy hike with only one steep hill that takes about two minutes to ascend. Overall pace is good for beginning to intermediate hikers (~2.5 to 3 miles per hour). Total distance is 6-7 miles. Though no special equipment needed, walking poles might be helpful. Re food, we'll take a short break for food in the bamboo forest, otherwise just some water and a snack should suffice. Where To Meet: Please meet at the lower parking lot at the trailhead next to the bridge. See you there! Directions: From GA 400, take 285 West, exit at New Northside Drive (this is two or so exits before the exit for 75); take left onto Northside Drive; continue up, then over the hill; at bottom of hill, make a right onto Harris Trail; right onto Whitewater Creek Road; first right at the sign for the park. Drive to parking lot, which is right in front of the river. Carpooling: I will run one carpool; we'll meet at the Best Buy near North Point Mall (exit 9 off of 400) at 10:00 and leave by 10:15am. Please email me if you'd like to carpool with me, or send a group email if you'd like to get a group to carpool from a different location. Please note that your email to carpool helps me know who is coming and determine how many cars we'll need. However, due to the volume of emails I receive, I do not respond to each one individually. BTW, I drive a white Toyota Sequoia. See you on the trail! Charlie
