Hey Afros, Since this was canceled in March and Sunday is supposed to be a beautiful day, let's get it in. The Trail Salt Lick Point Land and Water Reserve is a 600 acre site owned by the Village of Valmeyer. The reserve protects fluff land forests, which provide a critical habitat for unique hill prairies and glades. Beginning at the kiosk in the parking lot, the Salt Lick Point Trail rises rapidly up the bluffs. This trail is very steep at points so please plan accordingly. The trail becomes less strenuous and levels off at times until it reaches Salt Lick Point, the highest point in Monroe County, IL, onto Limestone Lane, which you follow back to the parking area. The Logistics We will meet in front of the quarry at 9am sharp. Salt Lick Trail is about 30 miles south of St. Louis in Valmeyer, Illinois. • What to bring Hiking Shoes or Boots Water Snacks • Important to know This is not a easy walk in the woods. This hike has over 800 feet of elevation.
